Hardcover book
This book is a design by graphic designer Tina De Souter for photographer Smith De Westelinck. He created an engaging portrait series of young girls dressed in colorful retro outfits. The models seem to be from another time, as they stare apathetically and emotionlessly ahead. That whole atmosphere gets an extension in the design and printing.
Along with Tina and Smith, we chose a comfortable hardcover with numerous pink details. From the linen cover with hotfoil, to the binding and headband, to the typography: rose dominates, but in such a subtle way that the whole thing is reminiscent of a sweet girl’s diary.
Another fun fact, by the way: the foil on the cover was printed in 2 layers to achieve sufficient contrast with the texture of the linen.
